iMooX is the only Austrian MOOC-platform. iMooX went online in spring 2014 and is very popular ever since. Its main aim was and is publishing only open educational contents, therefore all content is creative common licensed. Under that conditions, UNESCO took over patronage of the iMooX platform.

The platform was founded together with the University of Graz with the support of the State of Styria. Currently, the platform is being expanded as an Austria-wide MOOC platform in a cooperation project of universities under the support of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (2020-2024).
