Europeana is Europe's digital platform for cultural heritage, providing free online access to over 53 million digitised items drawn from Europe's museums, archives, libraries and galleries. Our collections feature a huge diversity of content from 43 countries and in many different languages, themes and media, including newspapers, 3D images, photographs, art works, maps and more.
Our collections contain vast resources of the quality (in terms of size, resolution, open licensing and metadata) to be used in education. This content is already being used by a number of commercial and noncommercial educational providers and networks across Europe.
We want to increase the impact of our work by ensuring that Europe’s digital cultural heritage is harnessed for learning to benefit the greatest possible audience. As this content is easily accessed by our free APIs or via manual download, it has potential for educators, editorial teams and digital educational platforms alike.
