This policy sets out the University’s position and guidance on the use and publication of Open Educational Resources (OERs) within educational situations at the University. It was endorsed by the Vice Chancellor’s Executive Group and the Taught Student Education Board (as TSEB/12-15) in November 2012.
The policy mandates and encourages staff and students to make use of OER to enhance teaching and learning. It specifies that any OER created are expected to be of the the same quality and inclusiveness as other course materials. Where OER are published it is expected that whole courses are not shared so that commercial interests can be protected.
The policy also contains specific information about licensing options and sharing with the university library.
