The State Secretary of Education and Sport has as its objective the definition and execution of government policy in the basic education and professional education sectors, aiming at improving the living conditions of the population. The Secretary is responsible for adapting the supply to the demand for basic education as a priority as well as professional education, in accordance with government policy, autonomously or in cooperation with the municipalities, with priority given to the quality of results.
