Europeana has been promoting the richness and diversity of our shared European cultural heritage through digital technology since 2008.
To do so, the Europeana Foundation brings together the organisations that have digital cultural heritage to share with the people and sectors who want to view, share and build with that heritage, including Education, Research and the Creative Industries.
We are a team of around 60 people, based mostly in the Hague (the KB) but also in London (the British Library) and Paris (the Bibliothèque Nationale de France). Our Network Association of over 1.500 cultural heritage professionals, creatives, educators and policy makers help to shape Europeana's strategic direction, improve data quality and make it more open. This helps us to reach the relevant professional audiences, but also to connect people with their shared cultural heritage through campaigns (such as #BigArtRide and #JumpingJacks bringing art to the street), or crowdsourcing events engaging people with their past (Europeana 1914-1918 Transcribathon http://transcribathon.com/en/).
