Igor Lesko, originally from Slovakia, has been living in South Africa since 2003. Following his undergraduate studies in European Studies, Igor spent one year at Bard College (USA) in an international exchange programme, made possible through the Open Society Foundations. He earned M.A. degrees in Social Development and Development Management from the University of the Western Cape (South Africa) and Ruhr University (Germany) in 2005 and 2007 respectively. Currently, Igor is a PhD candidate at Open Universiteit Nederland, under the Global Graduate OER Network (GO-GN): an initiative from the UNESCO Chair in OER at the Dutch Open Universiteit, initiated in collaboration with the UNESCO/COL Chair in OER at Athabasca University (Canada): http://go-gn.net/. The focus of his PhD research is on the Impact of International Organizations on Governmental OER policies.
Igor has worked on numerous education projects as a researcher, evaluator and a coordinator. His main interests include Open Educational Resources (OER), Open Education and Open Policies.
